Ralph Covert & The Bad Examples: Bad Is Beautiful
Inspired by the fan support of their first release, MEAT: The Bad Examples, the Chicago quartet poured all their time and resources into creating a masterpiece on their own terms. While recording the album, the band grew from obscure nobodies into local club favorites, secured at first a local 12 inch single release on Columbia College's AEMMP Records label, then a European deal on Dutch label CNR. Retaining US rights, the band formed Waterdog Records, and coast to coast touring led to European touring as well. Singles included the iconic Not Dead Yet, but also One Perfect Moment, Ashes Of My Heart, and Promises In The Dark. A 2017 vinyl re-issue crowns the lengthy reign of what Goldmine Magazine has called one of the "Top 50 Powerpop Albums."

Editorial Reviews
This rockin' pop masterpiece from put Ralph Covert, now best-known for being the creator of kidsmusic phenom Ralph's World, on the map back in 1991 with their Midwestern hit, ""Not Dead Yet,"" which garnered cover versions (including one by Styx) and continued use in film and television to this day. Other highlights include tracks which charted in Europe where they toured regularly. The band's popularity in the greater Chicago area remains strong due to continued AAA/AOR airplay and a select number of gigs each year. The thousands of parents who love the music of Ralph's World will find the infectious melodies and guitar hooks all started here. (True pop fans will also note the disc was engineered by Jeff Murphy of Shoes and RW fans will love the artwork by Charise Mericle who just did the illos on the new ""Ralph's World Rocks!"" hardcover song portfolio. |
