Ralph's World: Rhyming Circus
The 2008 Parent's Choice Award Winner is a masterpiece of the Ralph's World CD cycle. It was released on Disney Sound with a nation-wide tour and a flurry of videos on the Disney Channel. Ralph had saved up a backlog of songs during the end-stages of his relationship with Chicago based label Mini-Fresh, and both Disney and his many fans were rewarded with the results on the album that also served as his debut effort recording at his own home-grown Waterdog Records Studios. The album is packed with favorites from beginning to end, including the title track (and its singing cows!), the show-business fable of Edward The Tap Dancing Elephant, the dyslexia-busting Abby's Alphabet Soup, and the timeless quirkiness of Happy Not My Birthday.

Critics say:
Ralph's World, the invention of indie rocker Ralph Covert, continues to score high marks for decidedly individual, playful lyrics and deft, rock- and jazz-fueled tunes that explore childhood with impressive wit and bounce. The frontman for popular Chicago band the Bad Examples, Covert recorded his first Ralph's World children's album in 2001 to critical acclaim and has managed to pretty much surpass himself with each succeeding release. His latest is no exception; an exuberant carnival of song featuring selections that range from "Bad Bug Ball" and "Edward the Tap-Dancing Elephant" to a treat for adult ears: sly, expert tributes to musical icons Johnny Cash, Ziggy Stardust, Prince, the Beach Boys and others. Another memorable highlight: "Abby's Alphabet Soup" is an irresistible phonics lesson. Lynne Heffley |
